Frequently Asked Questions

TimbrGate is a free music promotion platform that gives independent musicians professional-grade tools including smart links, download gates, and detailed analytics. Share your music across every streaming platform with one link, grow your audience by gating downloads behind social actions, and track every click and conversion with a real-time dashboard.

Yes. TimbrGate is free to start, and creating an account takes under a minute. Smart links, download gates, tracking pixels and analytics are all available to you from the moment you sign up.

TimbrGate is built for independent musicians, producers, DJs, beatmakers, and small labels - anyone who makes music and wants to promote it effectively. Whether you're uploading your first beat or managing releases for a growing roster, TimbrGate gives you the same tools that major labels use.

Use a download gate when you have a file and want actions before unlock. Use a smart link when you want one URL that routes listeners to Spotify, Apple Music, and other stores with no file. Use a playlist link when the goal is a curator-facing page that deep-links toward opening or saving a playlist. Many campaigns use a smart link for the public release and a gate for a free bonus file.

TimbrGate is the download-gate and smart-link product. TIMBR Radio is the sister Worldwide EDM Station at timbr.music. Artists can submit tracks for airplay consideration at submit.timbr.music. Same TIMBR brand family; different products.

Smart links are single, shareable URLs that automatically detect which streaming platform your listener prefers and redirect them there. Instead of posting five separate links for Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc., you share one clean link that works for every fan on every platform.

TimbrGate smart links support all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal, SoundCloud, Amazon Music, and Bandcamp. We continuously add new platforms as they become available.

Yes. You can set a custom URL slug (e.g. timbrgate.com/s/your-track-name) and reorder the platform buttons. The page is built around your cover art, which also becomes its blurred background, so it looks like your release rather than a generic link page. There is no separate color picker.

It takes under a minute. Sign up for a free account, paste a link to your track from any supported platform, and TimbrGate will automatically find your music across all other services. Check the platforms it found, put the buttons in the order you want, hit publish, and you're ready to share. No technical knowledge needed.

Paste a track URL from a major store. TimbrGate finds matching links on other stores for you. You can still add, remove, or reorder destinations before you publish.

A Download Gate lets you offer free downloads of your music in exchange for specific fan actions - like following you on Spotify, subscribing on YouTube, or following on Instagram. Fans get a free track, and you grow your following. It's one of the most effective growth tools for independent artists.

You can require fans to complete a variety of actions: follow you on Spotify, follow on Instagram, subscribe on YouTube, follow on SoundCloud, repost a track, and more. You can combine multiple actions into a single gate to grow across several platforms at once.

TimbrGate API-verifies SoundCloud follow, like, and repost, plus YouTube subscribe, after the fan authorizes once with a one-request token. Other platform steps in the builder are guided completions. TimbrGate never asks for fan passwords. The gate builder exposes 20 platform actions plus email signup (21 selectable). Prefer verified SoundCloud or YouTube paths when the campaign depends on a confirmed action.

Yes. After the fan signs in with SoundCloud once, TimbrGate still runs follow, like, and repost through SoundCloud's official API. That path is separate from industry changes other tools announced around June 2026. Re-check TimbrGate before you launch a release campaign. For context, see TimbrGate's SoundCloud download-gate posts and the Hypeddit API-change note.

Yes. Turn on email capture on the gate, then export from Dashboard, then gate Stats, then Your email list, then Export CSV. Export is available to the gate owner or editor when email capture is on. You own that list outside any social algorithm.

Optional password protection can sit on a download gate for VIP drops, exclusives, or label-only previews. Fans still complete the social or email actions you set; the password adds an extra unlock layer.

No. TimbrGate sets no file size limit of its own. Files upload straight from your browser to cloud storage, so a full WAV album, a stem pack or a large sample pack all work. Gates accept audio files (WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF, M4A, OGG) and ZIP archives. Put presets, PDFs, artwork or stems in a ZIP.

When a fan visits your download gate link, they see the required actions listed on the page (e.g. "Follow on Spotify"). After going through the required actions, a download button unlocks and they can instantly grab the file. The process is fast, intuitive, and works perfectly on mobile devices.

Yes. Pick Link Unlock when you create the gate and paste any https link: a private SoundCloud track, a Dropbox or Google Drive folder, or a discount page. Fans complete the same actions, then tap Open link. The link stays hidden until they unlock it; before that the page shows only the site name, such as dropbox.com. On the edit page you can switch a gate between a file and a link, and its URL and stats stay the same.

TimbrGate provides a comprehensive analytics dashboard with total views, downloads, platform clicks, conversion rates, visitor countries, platform breakdown charts, daily activity graphs, and traffic sources from your UTM tags. You get a complete picture of how your links are performing.

TimbrGate analytics are near real-time - your dashboard updates within minutes of any fan interaction. Whether someone visits your link, completes a gate action, or downloads your track, you'll see it reflected in your stats almost instantly.

Yes. TimbrGate has built-in support for the Facebook (Meta) Pixel, the TikTok Pixel, Google Ads and Google Analytics 4. Add your IDs in your link settings and TimbrGate fires the tracking events automatically. When the fan consents, download gates also send the key events from our server through the Meta Conversions API, the TikTok Events API and GA4, so fewer conversions are lost to ad blockers. This lets you retarget link visitors with ads and track conversions directly in your ad dashboards.

Signing up takes under a minute and is free to start. Head to the sign-up page and create an account with your email address, or sign in instantly with Google, and you can start creating links right away.

Yes. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings page. When you delete your account, all your data - including links, uploaded files, and analytics - are permanently removed from our servers.

Absolutely. We take data security seriously. Your data is stored securely, encrypted in transit, and we never sell or share your personal information with third parties. For full details on how we handle your data, please read our Privacy Policy.
